Super 4’s Spring Training

Method

Super 4’s was created with a simple vision – to provide young players with  game realistic training sessions to develop their soccer skills in an engaging, age-appropriate environment. Designed for boys and girls aged 5–12, our program focuses on small-sided 4v4 training sessions that maximise every player’s involvement and learning.

With just 8 players per coach, we ensure every player receives more individual attention, more coaching feedback, and more opportunities to actively practice their skills. This small group environment creates the perfect balance between structured learning and game-like freedom, helping players accelerate development and love for the game.

Unlike traditional 7-a-side football, the 4v4 format guarantees more touches of the ball, constant decision-making moments, and increased opportunities in 1v1 attacking and defending situations. We coach the principles of attacking and defending through realistic practices such as 1v1, 2v1, and 3v2 scenarios that transfer directly into match play.

The result is a fast-paced, fun, and challenging environment where players improve their core skills – dribbling, passing, receiving, and striking the ball – while also learning how to work together, make decisions under pressure, and play with confidence.

GIG Coaching Methodology

The GIG methodology is built around the principle that the game itself is the best teacher. Training is designed to replicate the demands of real match situations so players can learn the skills, decisions, and behaviours that directly transfer to games.

Key elements:

Game-realistic practices – sessions are structured around scenarios players face in competition (e.g., 1v1, 2v1, 3v2 games).

Decision-making focus – players are constantly challenged to solve problems rather than repeat isolated drills.

Small-sided formats – maximise touches, involvement, and opportunities to attack, defend, and transition.

Holistic development – technical, tactical, physical, and psychological skills are developed together, not in isolation.
